Do as I Do

Raiden crouched real low so that no one could see him in the bushes.  He turned to see his eager pupil next to him, copying his every move.  He gave the motion to be quiet followed by the motion to stay put.  Slowly, Raiden got up and walked out into the open where there was a single woman standing by a pastry shop window.

She was clearly a civilian given that he didn't recognize her at all, though something about her blonde hair did seem somewhat familiar.  He casually strolled up next to her and placed his hand on the window beside her head.  She turned to face the blue haired man with a somewhat perturbed expression on her face.  Ignoring this, Raiden shot her his famous grin and was about to open his mouth when the woman's eyes widened.  She slapped him across the cheek where his scar was and stormed off in the opposite direction.

Raiden simply stood there, hugging his cheek as he watched her swing her hips viciously.  He was too distracted to hear Nao's approach.

"Aniki!  What happened?" The young boy asked.

Raiden acknowledged his pupil with a perplexed look of his own.  He shrugged and glanced in the direction the woman had walked.  "I, uh, might've encountered her once before." He admitted sheepishly.  In fact, it was starting to come back to him.  She had a rather distinct connection to the woman he'd taken home from the bar and abandoned a few weeks ago...

"Are you alright, then Aniki?" Nao asked.  He always looked up to his mentor with wide and curious eyes.  Those same eyes always struck Raiden as something familiar...as if he was looking at himself in a younger reflection.

"Yeah, yeah, yeah..." Raiden waved the concern away though.  "Alright, let's do this again.  This time, I'm gonna send you out into the field, alright?"

"What?!" Nao's eyes grew wide with anxiety but excitement as well.  "D-Do you think I'm ready?"

"Hm," he had to think about that.  Sure, the boy had the looks of a devilishly handsome younger version of himself, but the question was: Did he possess the same skills?  "Alright, then, I'll test you."

"How?"

"I'm gonna be an approachable woman, and all you have to do is to get my attention.  If you're able to arrange a meeting with me, then I'll say it's a completed mission.  You ready?"

"So, we're playing pretend?"

Raiden nodded.  "Yup, but the one thing you have to know is how to improvise.  This is important because you can't approach each woman the same way...Well, at least not until you perfect your techniques." The lightning user was sure to crouch down to match the boy's height, considering his own was already a bit too tall for most people.  "Whenever you're ready."

Nao nodded in acknowledgment.  He walked up to his mentor with determination heavy in his eyes.  His fists were clenched at his sides as he gulped a bit too loudly.  "Hey there, miss...?"

"Kanmuri." Raiden made his voice a higher pitch and tried to imitate his friend and sensei.  It was the first name that popped in his head.

"Kanmuri-chan...you have a pretty name." Nao tried to do an imitation of Raiden's toothy smile.  It was a bit freaky how much he caught on.

"You can call me Kan-chan." He winked.  If he was going to play her part, why not do it properly?  He couldn't help but mentally snicker at this.  'Somewhere in the village, Kan-chan is getting a burning itch to strangle me.' he thought to himself.

Nao, of course, knew that Raiden and Kanmuri had a strange relationship where he picked on her and she yelled at him, yet they were friends.  He didn't quite understand, but he did, however, find this scenario funny.  "I was wondering, Kan-chan," he also put emphasis on the pet name like Raiden did, "if you'd like to go get some dango later."

"Stop," Raiden got up to his full height and shook his head.  "You can't just come right out and say it.  You have to ease them into it.  Flatter her, get her to laugh, these are things that you can do to break the ice." He explained.  "Once you do that and you see that you have her undivided attention, then you may approach the task at hand."

Nao nodded.  "Break the ice...Got it." He repeated to make sure he remembered.

"Also, don't give say 'later'.  By doing this, you're giving them the option to say no or ditch the date.  If you have the agree to a definite date, they have to give you an answer on the spot.  And that's where the ball comes back into your court.  You want to maintain control at all time." He gave him more tips as Nao simply nodded.

Just then, a girl about Nao's age was walking their way.  Raiden thought this was a good opportunity to shove him into action.  Getting close to Nao, he told him his mission and casually walked away, leaving his pupil to his first test.

"Break the ice," he muttered under his breath before walking up to her.

Just like the girl Raiden attempted to hit on, this one was clearly a civilian as well.  Hopefully, this would play in Nao's favor since civilian girls were so easily impressed by shinobi such as themselves.  Raiden moved closer in secret to try an overhear the conversation between the two youngsters.

"Hi!" Nao waved at the girl with a sly smirk on his face.  His golden eyes were shining with determination set in.  "I'm Nao." He stuck out his hand for her to shake.

This girl was a bit surprised at the encounter but replied with a polite smile of her own.  She lightly twirled a black curl before excepting his hand.  "I'm Yuki, Nao-kun."

The boy's eyes grew wide and his smile followed suit.  "That's funny.  You're name's Yuki, and mine is Nao Yuki." He started to laugh.  It was innocently genuine which would be infectious to anyone who would cross his path.  Raiden couldn't help but smile at his pupil's progress.

The girl also couldn't resist and mimicked his laughter.  "That is funny." She agreed.

'Way to go, buddy!' Raiden thought.  Nao had successfully broken the ice with her.

It was also evident that he noticed too because he spoke after his laughter grew a bit quieter.  "I, uh, couldn't help but notice that I have some extra money.  You wouldn't, perhaps, want to get something to eat with me say in a lit—half hour." Nao caught himself on the second rule: Give a definite time.

The girl was completely silent as she put her finger to her lips in thought.  A lot of women did this, so it was clear she was also growing up.  Raiden had faith, though, in his student.  After what seemed like a long time, she looked at him with a sort of sheen in her eyes.  "I would like to.  Mind if I got tell my mother?"

"Not at all." Nao smiled, relieved that she gave an answer.  "Meet me at the dango shop, okay?"

She nodded and flitted off back in the direction she came from.  There was a happy pep in her skip.

Raiden came out from his "hiding" spot and gave Nao a round of applause.  His smile was huge across his face.  "Well done, well done!" He congratulated him.  "I saw that you caught yourself on the time."

Nao scratched the back of his head.  "I almost forgot about that rule, Aniki." He said a bit shamefully.

"Don't worry.  You caught yourself with some excellent improvisation.  Also, did you notice how she took a while to answer you?" He asked, hoping that the boy was a bit quick to see what he saw.

He nodded.  "Yeah, I thought I was going to die of heart attack." He chuckled.

"Well, just like you, she's probably learning at how to handle men.  That was an attempt at playing hard to get, but you beat her." Raiden smiled.  "Your skills were just that good." He patted Nao on his back.

"Aw," Nao blushed, "it was all thanks to you, though, Aniki."

"Yeah, I guess I am a good teacher...Oh!  I almost forgot!"

"What is it?"

"Well, I have to teach you the next step." He answered.

"There's another step?!" Nao's eyes popped out of his head.

Raiden nodded.  "Yeah, well after you get the date, you have to go on the date.  I have exactly a half an hour to teach you, so you better pay attention!"
Okay, so this was my first actual attempt at doing a crossover of the prompts for the Academy. I wanted to do a fic with Nao for a long time now because ever since Raiden became his mentor I couldn't get this picture of him teaching Nao how to pick up women out of my head :XD: This was kind of a last minute crappy pull together of the prompts for the classes because I'm a bit short on time lately. There'll definitely be more of Raiden's words of wisdom for Nao later. Trust me, this is just the start of this duo ^^

Prompts used:
Let's play pretend (Intelligence)

Improvise (Weapons) *I know, I didn't actually use a weapon unless Raiden's teaching skills could be considered a dangerous weapon :XD: Who knows what could happen with that information ^^

Hard to get (Seduction)

Nao Yuki @ :iconpawzor:
Kanmuri Byakko @ :iconrikku9314: *I can't seem to stop picking on her lately :D
Raiden @ :iconanimeinsanity112989:
